Dishonest Gain Always Brings Heartache – (Proverbs 13:11)

God is showing us in His word the long term consequences of cheating and dishonest gain. Those who compromise their integrity, their honesty and moral standards, do so at great harm to themselves. In the end they are just postponing the inevitable destruction that is sure to come. And we know that destruction and loss will come; however, not before sin takes its devastating toll on the lives of those who live by dishonest gain. The sin of greed and dishonesty will not rest until it has destroyed the heart and the life of a person who made dishonesty their companion.

Moreover, it will not rest until it has destroyed the lives of those closest to them as well. And when this type of sin has had enough, when it has become full and it has consumed the life of those who embrace it, it moves on to the next generation. With their conscience seared, their hearts replaced by dead stone, when it has no more life to take from its host, it leaves the sinner dead in their trespasses and sins, separated from God. It's then and only then will it carry out its last deed of destruction and that is to remove all previous gain acquired during the life of the one who embraced it. Sin and greed will do so as its final act of destruction before jumping and latching on to the next living soul who tries to master it.
