Our Friends Shape Our Character – (Proverbs 13:20)

Here the Bible confirms for us, what many have already suspected. Those whom we choose as companions and friends shape our life and our character. If we choose godly friends, we will become more godly. If we choose wise friends, we will become wiser. However, if we choose foolish friends, we shall be destroyed. Dear saints remember evil has only one goal, just one goal alone and that goal is our complete and total destruction. Sin and evil are like a deadly virus, they never stop, they always want more and they will always have control over us, unless we take the necessary action to remove what feeds them from our lives. We have to remember we live in a fallen world, a world the Apostle Paul tells us is influenced by the "prince of the power of the air," who is Satan.
Therefore, the default attitude of the world we live in, is one of enmity against God. This means we have three enemies in our walk with Christ, they are this fallen world we live in, Satan and the spiritual warfare waged around us and our sin nature. And they will strive together in order to make us stumble and fall. Moreover, we have to remember, no one can hold fire in their bosom and not get burned, likewise no one can associate with wickedness and not be hurt. When we play with evil, we destroy the very fabric of our hearts. Slowly beyond our perception we turn our hearts of flesh into hearts of stone until we are completely consumed and our lives destroyed. There is only one person who can turn back that kind of damage, that person is Christ Jesus our Lord. Only He can restore a life that has become dead in trespasses and sin.
