True Integrity is Part of Following God – (Proverbs 17:7)

God is using a contradiction of character in this passage to help us better understand the condition of our hearts. It's impossible for a fool to speak what is right, just as much as it's an abomination for a king to have lying lips. This is another way of God showing us that our true character is a reflection of our hearts. Regardless of title, regardless of possessions or social status, we are what's in our hearts. Therefore, God knows what drives us and that is why only a relationship with Jesus can change our lives. That's because with our salvation through faith comes the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts and minds from the inside out. It's the Holy Spirit who carries out the process of "Sanctification," which truly changes the hearts and minds of men and women.

Sanctification is God's process of spiritual growth carried out in us, by the Holy Spirit and by God's word, the Bible. Only Jesus and our faith in Him can restore our broken relationship with God the Father and provide salvation for us. Therefore, only Jesus can bring real change into our lives, because only He can bring true salvation and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Unlike mankind who looks at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart of all people. He knows the true motivations and feelings behind all we do. We live in a world today where it has become commonplace to use lying lips to mask our true intentions; but this is not so with God. There will be no debates with the Lord, there will be no discussions with God to talk about our opinions. Jesus is not interested in our justification, nor in our good works, rather He looks at our faith and trust in Him, and what place He holds in our hearts.
