Be Found In Christ Or Be Found Guilty Before God – (Proverbs 16:1-3)

Daily Proverbs

The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits. Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.

Daily Bible Study
One of the natural effects of the sinful heart of man is self-deception as well as deception of others. Satan has led us to believe that we can hide the true intentions of our hearts, just so long as we can create a plausible explanation for why we did what we did. We think if we can blame others or blame our circumstances adequately enough then we are innocent. We believe if our excuses sound good enough, then we're innocent. And to further our rebellion against God, when others speak to us about our sin, we can cover our rebellion against God by either getting angry or by using the excuse, "no one knows what's in our hearts." However, that cannot be farther from the truth. God alone knows our hearts. He knows the "real" motives behind every action we take. God knows when we are acting out of envy, spite, hatred, anger or for selfish gain. God looks not only at our actions, but the motives behind those actions. In addition, we are guilty not only for the sins we commit, but also for the sin of omission.

The sin of omission is when we fail to do things we know we should do. It's when we fail to help others, give God praise or follow the will of God. Moreover, in our day and age where emotions have replaced right and wrong, our sinful nature has made us believe the lie that we can argue to erase the guilt. That somehow if we can talk enough, if we create enough doubt or confusion, then we make others believe we are not guilty. Dear child of God, this behavior could not be farther from reality! We must remember there will be no discussion with God. Our emotions and wants do not supersede God's moral law, nor will God debate with us our excuses or reasons. Therefore, we must always remember God is sovereign and in control and we are either guilty before God or innocent through Christ. God is not human and His ways are not our ways, nor our His thoughts our thoughts. Therefore, He will neither care nor listen to our excuses at the time of judgment. No one will debate, or have a discussion with God over their sin. And all people great and small who are found without Jesus will face judgment and condemnation.
