Greed Always Brings Anger and Wrath – (Proverbs 15:18)

Daily Bible Study
Mankind's wrath and anger go hand in hand, especially in our day and age where it's become normal to seek revenge for the slightest of wrongs, perceived or real. As society becomes more narcissistic, we focus more on ourselves than we focus on God and others. We become more prideful and build up within ourselves a sense of entitlement, which in turn leads us into more sin and leads us further away from God. Self promotion and looking out for ourselves and what we can get out of life, may be man's way, it may be what the world tells us to do. But it's not God's way. And this passage reminds us that people who have quick tempers and those who are more concerned about their wants, their success and what they feel is their share of everything will always stir up strife, they will never be satisfied, their hunger for more will never be filled. Because of our sin nature, and because of the influence of this fallen world and the one the Apostle Paul calls, "the prince of the power of the air." Their desire for more attention, more gain, more recognition and more stuff will never be satisfied.
Because of this a person who is lost in sin and pride will always stir up strife, they will never be at peace unless they can consume all attention and resources. Therefore, we have to understand that God will never honor those who take only for themselves. Moreover, we mustn't forget God looks not only at our actions, but also the intent and desire behind our actions. We must remember God judges us on our actions, intentions as well as those things we fail to do. And regardless of how well we may think we're doing in this world, every person will give an account of what they did with the time, talents and resources God has given them. God gives us blessings in order that we may help those in need and spread the Gospel of Christ to those who are lost. The goal of this life is not to have more stuff, on the contrary, at the day of judgment all the stuff we accumulated in this world will be burned away as hay and stubble. Only what we did out of our love for Christ and others will remain. Therefore, as Christians, we have to remember, the behavior of pride and stirring up strife is especially bothersome to the Lord and He will send people and circumstances into our lives to warn us. And if we fail to heed those warnings the Lord will discipline us through trials and loss to bring us back to Him.
