God Hates the Lazy Heart – (Proverbs 13:4)

Daily Proverbs

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Daily Bible Study
Why does God speak so much about the lazy man? Why does God speak against the lazy in spirit? Every man has a God given responsibility. A responsibility to the Lord, to himself, to his spouse, to his children, to his family and to the community in which he lives. The sin of laziness, and yes, it is a sin, is that it short-circuits God's role for a person. It's the one sin that not only lets other sins flourish; but also lets destruction into the lives of others because those who practice it, become apathetic and do nothing to stop the encroachment of sin into other area's of their life.

Laziness prevents a person from fulfilling or caring about their responsibilities. A person who practices laziness ignores the work of God in their lives and as a result, they are unproductive for God's kingdom, and worse because of their apathy, they allow evil to flourish which goes against the work of God in their lives.  It prevents a person from doing what they know is right and more importantly, it also prevents them from stopping what they know is wrong. Not only does the lazy person, let evil flourish, but they also make themselves a burden on those God meant for them to support. Laziness like pride makes a person ineffective for the kingdom of God; however, unlike pride laziness, not only destroys the person; but also those attached to them.
