A Wise Son Heeds the Father’s Instruction – (Proverbs 13:1)

Daily Bible Study
It is the same in our day and age, as it was in times past, a wise son is a gift from God. How hard was it for us to listen to our father? How many of us listened to the wisdom and guidance of our loving father growing up? In order for us to become a wise and loving father, we must first be a wise son. Our heavenly father has called us to Himself. Do you hear His call? Did you heed His call? Do you hear His instruction? Did you follow His instructions? Do you read and meditate on His word? God has given us what we need to be wise and He has written it in His word. Moreover, God has sent us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit who indwells all followers of Christ, carries out God's work of spiritual growth in us call "Sanctification."
The book of James tells us God has wisdom in abundance for those who ask Him for wisdom, those who belong to Him through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, let us first become a wise son to our loving Father in heaven, then let us imitate that behavior to our earthly fathers in humility, honor and love. Then and only then, with a heart of humility and love for God, can we pass it down to our sons. God has given all Christian men a great responsibility and that responsibility is to live for our children and our spouses as we would live to Christ Himself. Our love, our behavior and our actions are the transportation upon which our spoken words ride into the hearts of our children. Our sacrifices for them are the yardstick by which they measure our resolve and commitment to our family and to Christ Jesus our Lord. The role of all men, is to create a loving and safe home in which our children and spouses can thrive and grow into the people God has planned for them to be.
