Our Faith Builds Within Us a Sound Heart – (Proverbs 14:29-30)

Daily Proverbs

He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly. A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.

Daily Bible Study
The fruits of the spirit include joy, wisdom, gentleness, patience, mercy, kindness, understanding and most of all love. Love for God, love for others and especially a love for God's word the Bible and for Christ Jesus our Lord. All of which lead to a sound heart and wisdom. This is because knowing Jesus, knowing what He did for us, understanding the penalty of death we were under. Generates an attitude of mercy and forgiveness in our hearts, as well as an indescribable joy that fills our souls and reaches out to those we come in contact with. Our genuine love and concern for others, along with our joy can at times appease wrath and build bridges between ourselves and those we meet. It also discourages folly, disarms envy and builds within us a sound heart as we grow in Christ.

This is all brought about through the guidance of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer and follower of Christ Jesus our Lord. In addition, wisdom and knowledge increases with the study of God's word which the Holy Spirit illuminates to all of God's children. Illumination is a term which means the Holy Spirit guides our reading and increases our understanding of scripture as we read and study the Bible. He helps us to understand God's perspective on the passages, in light of who Jesus is and what He as done for us. While reading the Bible, the guidance of the Holy Spirit helps us to understand how different areas of the Bible tie together into a cohesive whole. And it's through the Holy Spirit's work in us that we see and understand how Jesus and the promise of His coming was displayed throughout the Old Testament. Jesus is the Messiah, He is the one whom the Old Testament saints looked for, as they believed in the promises of God. Moreover, because the Bible speaks of God's plan of redemption, both the Old Testament and the New Testament testify of Christ Jesus our Lord.
