Jesus Our Refuge, Our Strong Confidence – (Proverbs 14:26-27)

Daily Proverbs

In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.

Daily Bible Study
As we have seen before throughout the Bible the term "fear of the Lord" is a term which refers to us having a deep respect, reverence, love and awe for God. It refers to us having a solid understanding of who God is and what He has done for us. We who were lost, we who were dead in our trespasses and sins, are now made alive in Christ Jesus our Lord. Jesus is the very Creator of the universe and through Him everything is held together. Jesus stepped out of eternity and took on humanity, in order that through His death for us and our faith in Him, we may live for Him and have eternal life in His name! He alone put creation into existence and He alone is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Jesus is not only the fountain of life, He is also our foundation for life. It is God's never ending foundation of grace, which leads to eternal life.

It is God's free gift, that has been given to us through Jesus' blood shed for us on the Cross of Calvary, that we receive eternal life. And because of Jesus, all believers receive the free gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit who brings a joy into the hearts of those who follow Christ. And it's a joy that the rest of the world does not know and cannot understand. Why? Because the joy and peace we have come through God's process of spiritual growth in us called "Sanctification." Sanctification is a process carried out by the Holy Spirit in us, whom we receive because of our faith in Christ. This is also a free gift of God as part of our salvation. Through Jesus, we become God's children, adopted into the family of God by faith. The Lord then becomes our refuge, and as God's children, we now rest upon the strength of Christ. We now walk in His guidance through the Holy Spirit. And because of our faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit walks with us as we live our day to day lives, strengthening us and helping us to abide in the will of God.
