God’s Law is Life to Our Soul – (Proverbs 13:14)

The need for water is the same today as it was in Bible times. In that part of the world, a well could mean the difference between life and death. Having a water supply was literally having a fountain of life, because people could return to it and drink as often as they needed to. In many ways it was one of the most important resource for one's life. Likewise, God's word which is His revelation to us is our "well of life" today. His word not only gives us eternal life, but a more abundant life now through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And we can turn to it daily and take in as much as needed for life. Moreover, God's word never changes it's the same for us both yesterday and today, and it's always there as our constant source of life.

God's word gives life to those who were once dead because in it we learn about Christ Jesus our Lord. In addition, we learn about the salvation He alone can provide for us, through our faith in Him. God's word restores life for those whose lives were once lost to sin. And His word is the fountain from which we grow in grace and wisdom. Because of God's word we not only have life eternally, but we have it more abundantly today through the work of the Holy Spirit. It's the Holy Spirit who indwells all those who have placed their faith in Jesus. And by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can make a difference for the kingdom of God. Moreover, God's word gives us the surety of the hope we have in Christ Jesus our Lord, because it tells us all who the Father has placed in Jesus' hands, are secure until the day He calls us home to be with Him.
