In God There is Always Hope – (Proverbs 13:12)

Daily Proverbs

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.

Daily Bible Study
The term "Tree of Life" used here was a Jewish idiom and it referred to a situation that renewed both the body and the soul. The phrase referred to an event or an action that brought both physical and spiritual life back to its recipient. It speaks of a time when a person has lost all hope, a time when despair has descended and there is no way out. And then something unexpected happens and freedom is restored! Life is brought back and hope flourishes again. The Bible tells us not to withhold good from those to whom it is due, because to do so is a sin in the eyes of God. Moreover, to do so, opens us up to the discipline of God and His chastening toward us in our day to day lives.

In other words, we are not to hold-back reward, love, praise or material gain from those who have earned it or deserve it, because of our own greed or sinful desires. To do so is to defer hope from an individual. We know God not only sees are actions, He knows the true motives of our heart. When God looks at our actions and deeds, He looks at the true motives, desires and intentions behind those actions. We do good to all, because Jesus Himself was faithful to save. When we were dead in our trespasses and sins, and without hope in the world, Jesus saved us! When we called to Jesus, He was faithful to rescue us. Therefore, we are to be like Christ. We are to offer hope, to those in need of hope, and love to those who are hurting, and we are to seek out the lost who do not know Christ Jesus our Lord!
