God Knows a Lying Heart – (Proverbs 13:2-3)

Daily Bible Study
A person who hates lying not only feels bad about it, they avoid it at all cost. They have realized through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, what a snare it is for our soul. Lying is a sin toward God, and it's a sin that can drive us away from God and prevent our return into fellowship with Him because we begin to justify and believe our own lies. Lying has become a huge epidemic in our society today; but remember God is not mocked, He looks at our heart not the words we speak. Today we have only fooled ourselves not God. We think if we leave a word or two out its not lying. We think, if we over emphasize one fact and not mention the other facts, we are not lying, however, that is not the case, it's still lying, and we have fooled ourselves not God.
When we think if we just tell the part of the story that suits us that's not really lying, then we have fooled ourselves because we think wrapping our selfish desires up as "our opinion" means no one can tell we're lying. Dear believer, God is not mocked, He knows our hearts and we break His heart every time we play games with the truth to seek our own advantage. As children of God and followers of Christ, we have to remember God not only listens to the words we speak, He also looks at the true motives, intentions and desires behind what we do and why we do it. God knows what really happened, and He judges us on the condition, desires and intentions of our hearts, not on how we dress things up for the rest of the world to see and hear.
