God’s Wisdom is Better Than Riches – (Proverbs 16:16)

How much better to obtain wisdom from God than riches from man. For God's wisdom leads to life and the worlds riches lead to ultimate destruction. When all we seek is riches without knowledge, then we are truly seeking after death. When all we seek is success without understanding, we become the poorest of souls and often secure our own destruction. There is no one harder for God to reach than a fool who has become wise in his own eyes, or a rich person whose wealth as blinded him into thinking he doesn't need God. We have to remember greed is not wisdom, and wealth doesn't mean a person has it all figured out. Often times the wealthy are without security and without hope for the future. Many times people strive to obtain wealth only to discover it never brought the happiness and fulfillment they so desperately sought.

The Lord loves us and His concern for us is not only for the here and now, but for eternity to come. We can't forget when God looks at us, He does so with eternity in mind. Moreover, everything in this world, including all of our wealth will be burned away. But the wisdom of God leads to life, because it leads to Christ. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we not only gain eternity, but God also gives us life now. We have received not just eternal life to come, but a more abundant life now as we live for Christ. It's impossible to explain to someone who doesn't know Christ the joy that fills the hearts of those who know Jesus. Because knowing Jesus is something that must be experienced first hand to truly understand. And we have to remember, God can't work in a heart consumed with worldly lust, because it's a heart without wisdom, closed off to God and not seeking after the Lord.
