Wisdom Brings Life and Joy – (Proverbs 15:20-22)

Daily Proverbs

A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother. Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment, but a man of understanding walks uprightly. Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established.

Daily Bible Study
In our day-to-day lives wisdom is to be sought above daily pleasures. Because wisdom brings not only happiness; but also a fulfilling and productive life. And God's wisdom brings not only life, but a more abundant life, which can be well lived through Christ who strengthens us. True wisdom starts with a knowledge of God and a deep, abiding love and respect for the Lord and an understanding of who Jesus is and what He did for us at the Cross of Calvary. True wisdom is sustained and strengthened by the study of God's word the Bible and obedience to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It's only through the regular reading and studying of the Bible that we can truly understand God's plan of redemption. Because it's only when we understand this that we can truly appreciate what a gift we have in Jesus. But most importantly, it's only after we have a relationship with Jesus that we can gain true wisdom from God and receive the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.

This is because it's only after accepting Jesus that God sends the Holy Spirit who takes up residence within us and builds us stronger in the Lord. He teaches us true wisdom and understanding as we read and study God's word. Without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, no one can truly learn, nor understand God's word, the Bible. In addition, we have to remember that the Lord never meant for us to walk alone in this life, that is why through faith in Jesus, we are then sent a Helper who is the Holy Spirit. Walking together as a body of believers is one of the keys to building ourselves stronger in our faith. Christianity is about relationship, the relationship we have with Jesus, the relationship we have with other followers of Christ and the relationship we have with those who do not know Christ. These relationships help to edify one another and build each of us stronger in our faith. Therefore, we can never forget it's by obedience to the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit, and through the study of God's word, we gain true wisdom. And these gifts are only truly available to those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
