We Are the Light to Our Nation – (Proverbs 14:34)

Daily Bible Study
Dear believer, no matter where we live, these are very important words for us to remember and recall to mind. Each of us is accountable before God. We are responsible for what we do with the Gospel message of salvation through Christ alone. We are responsible for what we do with the blessings and resources God has given us. This includes our time, talents, wealth and resources. And we are responsible to help those in need. Moreover, and this is very important, we are also responsible to be the light and salt to the world we live in! As followers of Christ, we have become children of God adopted into the family of God by faith. In addition, we now belong to God, and along with our new family status, comes a new life and new responsibilities. Part of those responsibilities is to submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and seek out those who are lost in this fallen world.
Because we are children of God, we can no longer think as the world thinks. This means for us, God never gave us the blessings of time, talents, wealth and resources for us to hold on to. God never gave us His love, His kindness, His mercy, His grace, His word and moral guidance to hide from the rest of the world. It is these blessings and our relationship with God that makes us a light to this dark and dying world. Jesus told us, "we are the salt of this world; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men." Dear child of God, do not miss these warnings in His word, because we are also responsible for our influence on the society in which we live in. We are to use all of the blessings God has given us to be the light and salt in a dark and dying world. And we do so by taking what God has given us and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit on how we use those blessings. As followers of Jesus, we will all give an account to the Lord Himself on what we did for His kingdom, with the time, talents and resources God has given us.
